The impacts of the combination of two wars -the War on Drugs and the War on COVID in two countries with punitive drug policies and their impacts on people who use drugs (PWUD) are discussed in this timely report. The reports details how the intersection of the two ‘wars’ has increased police powers and their presence, intensified structural and economic barriers to health services including COVID testing, harm reduction services and placed PWUD in environments that increase their exposure to not only COVID but other ‘risk’ behaviours.
